Respond #4: It’s the real thing.

It’s the real thing. Coke (1970′s slogan for Coca-Cola)

Disseminate, inform and persuade the audience is not new … it has always existed, one way or another … Advertising !

This is my passion, I have to have them all … Vintage Ads. I have a collection of ads from all periods and from various countries. Whenever I travel, I buy a vintage ad from that country. Usually, I have a particular interest for consumer products ads ( Coca-Cola, Wrigley’s, Nabisco)

Surfing in the Internet, to see where the people with my same affinity gather and who their leaders are, I discovered something odd: they are not organized, no groups or associations specialized, and certainly you can BUY or BUY these old Ads.

The blogs I found are quite vintage. (Mom’s Basement, Squidoo, BlogSpot) No one had comment something for several months or in some cases over a year ago.

That’s make me think that we are not precisely “talking” in the Internet, this is not the platform for that. Probably the best place to do this is with collectors, vintage fairs or flea markets. At these fairs you will find groups of people who share the same affinity. It never fails, when you go travel always go to the market fairs, usually Saturday or Sunday, there you will find it and at an affordable price.

Pros and Cons of the internet:

Pros: Long Tail, this ads form part of the longest unique items, you can see and buy as old as before the 1800′s or as new as the 2000′s. (Amazon, ebay, Adclassix) This last one I think is the best place to buy, its expensive, but I think is worth it!

Cons: I do not think this is our platform for communication, blogs are old and rare commented.

Pros: Well, I have to admit I found a pretty good one blog in Flickr, is the most update it that I found really nice and have advertisements. People contribute with pictures, polls and suggestions.

I do not know if is a Pro or Con, but if you narrow your search to an specific brand or company to see the ads, you would find much more information. They are segmented, as a whole we will not find much information on history, but if we subdivided we would find organizations about that brand.

Stop reading now, and enjoy this!!! “Demented Children in Ads” its funny

and …

I’ve always said “Recordar es vivir”…

See what was popular before and see how it has evolved …
